Lifestyle Reality Check…for the students in your household

Lifestyle Reality Check…for the students in your household

I had a conversation with my daughter the other day. It is her first year in college and as we all do after one semester in the dorms…she is getting the idea that she wants an apartment. “ I will show you guys (meaning me and mommie) that I am responsible…I can do this Dad!”.  Well, I must admit...she is on the Dean’s list.

As you all know, great grades can disappear if kids do not stay focused. We must admit that college dorms does bring a level of supervision and reinforces the learning institution’s standard for required studying. (To be sure…some may disagree with this.)

So, I decided to give my dear daughter a test ride down the road of responsibility. I asked her to take Jumpstart.org’s Lifestyle Reality Check.   Note: Jump$tart is a national coalition of organizations dedicated to improving the financial literacy of kindergarten through college-age youth by providing advocacy, research, standards and educational resources. Jump$tart strives to prepare youth for life-long successful financial decision-making.
